Can you paint Lord Ganesha in just one minute on a stage with the spotlight on you and a crowd of people waiting eagerly for you to finish? Difficult, isn’t it? But not impossible, right? Imagine doing this – without both of your hands. Impossible you’d say. But that’s what Dhaval Khatri – A Touchtalent artist from Ahmedabad has done over and over again. Here are a few things about this unique Indian artist that would move your heart. This man’s story will inspire you and remind you that nothing is impossible.
In 2003 – a 14 year old Dhaval lost his hands after his kite got entangled in electric wires and he was electrocuted – but this accident revived him to a new life that would make him an inspiration for many others. Without any prior interest in drawing or sketching – it took only 8 months and a lot of dedication and support from his parents for Dhaval to master both these arts. Not only does he draw and paint – Dhaval has perfected a few songs on the guitar and also plays cricket and football every weekend.
He paints many famous celebrities – including Sachin Tendulkar, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and more. Dhaval also had the privilege to present his portrait of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Azad in person – who too was blown away by Dhaval’s expertise in his art.
Dhaval says he is a professional artist – ‘Not by Choice, But by Chance.’
Dhaval never takes more than 2-3 hours to complete a sketch but this video of him painting Lord Ganesha actually took less than 1 minute to complete in front of a huge audience. Dhaval has also featured on the huge Television hit – Entertainment ke liye kuch bhi karega and won over the hearts of ace-choreographer and director Farah Khan and music director Anu Malik.
Dhaval Khatri is not just an artist – he is an inspiration for many others out there who face endless pitfalls in life but have the courage and determination to get back up. With numerous shows and art portfolios under his belt – Dhaval is definitely one artist you would want to follow and connect with.
